Landscaping vision released

Funding campaign launched

Our parish has launched a campaign to raise funds for a new landscaping project alongside the church and recently-opened meeting and residential complex.

Capital works leader Paul Roberts has a target of $100,000 to fulfil the vision for the Rosary Community Garden drawn up by parishioner and botanical advisor Lydia Ellis.

Lydia has produced three artist’s impressions of the garden which will be dedicated to Mary and the rosary.

Plantings will reflect the colours of each of the four decades of the rosary and the ground treatment will incorporate the pattern of a giant cross. A combination of soft and durable surfaces will be featured.

Our Lady’s statue, formerly located in a bush grotto alongside the church, has been restored and will be permanently placed in an elevated position in the new community garden.

Paul Roberts has begun discussions with Holy Rosary School and Newman College to seek support for the project.

Parishioners will be kept informed on progress of the garden project and have the opportunity to be involved with contributions to particular features in the garden such as trees, other plants, inscriptions and paving.

Paul says the Rosary Community Garden will eventually cater for many uses including spaces for small gatherings, quiet contemplation, prayers, post-sacramental photography and barbecues. A new memorial wall will be installed on one side.
